Professional portraits are so important. Photographs are all we have left after children grow up and leave, and loved ones are no longer with us. Photographs of your family and loved ones are priceless.
I have earned my Master of Photography degree and I am a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America. Only 8% of professional photographers in the U.S. are certified. I am also a photographer with the Bald Beauties Project, a program that provides photography sessions to children and teens undergoing cancer treatment.
Here's the process for portrait sessions:
Prior to your portrait session, I like to meet with clients for a pre-consultation at my studio. It's very helpful to get to know each other and plan the photo shoot beforehand. At the pre-consultation we discuss how to make your senior or family portraits most meaningful to you. We discuss what and who you want to incorporate into the portraits, photo shoot locations, pricing, clothing, make up, and what you think you'll want to do with the portraits. The session fee is paid at the time of the pre-consultation.
Next comes the portrait session. Outdoor portrait sessions are done about an hour and a half before sunset, when the light is soft and flattering. Studio portraits can be done any time of day.
About a week after the portrait are taken, we meet at my studio for the ordering session. We will look at a slideshow of your images, shown to music. I will help you narrow the images down to your favorites. I have software that will even show you what your images will look like on the your walls!
It's pretty cool! After the portrait order is placed and paid for, it takes about a couple of weeks to get the prints back.
During COVID I started photographing flowers, which has been a wonderful creative outlet. Please see the Flower gallery. By popular demand, I've begun selling these photos as wall art. Contact me if you're interested in decorating your home with any of my Flower photos.
